Stone Carvings
Here are some further pictures of some of the awesome stone carvings on the temples/palaces from the Hampi/Badami trip:
Nehru Trophy Boat Race
Also in Alleppey, we had the chance to watch the Nehru Trophy Boat Race which is supposed to be the biggest snake-boat race of the year. I (along with a couple others in our group) chose to watch the race from a boat on the water. Luckily, someone on our boat had D40 and let me borrow their battery to get some pictures:
Backwaters at Alleppey
On our trip to Kerala, I made the mistake of leaving my camera battery back in its charger in Bangalore, but fortunately Michael was nice enough to let me take a few pictures with his camera. Our boat tour through the backwaters at Alleppey was gorgeous and relaxing. I could go for some more deep-fried bananas.
Aihole
After visiting Hampi and Badami we visited Aihole (eye-HO-lee) where there were many impressive temples:
Badami
The second round of our trip was to Badami, which is known for its temples carved inside caves. There were lots of interesting things to see here: the green pond, bright red rocks, hidden “evolution” statues, and much more. Here’s a first round of pictures. A few more will come later.
